Letters patent issued in response to a petition requesting that the name of the Company be changed in order to reflect the large influx of members from the Newspaper Makers' Company, a livery company whose Charter of Incorporation had been granted 19 Jul 1935 and surrendered 25 Oct 1935.

Parties: (1) George VI (2) Sidney John Sandle, Sir John William Baddeley, Lord Iliffe and members of the Court of Assistants.

Substantive clauses are as follows:

(a) The Mistery or Art of a Stationer of the City of London shall hereafter be called the Mistery or Art of a Stationer and Newspaper Maker of the City of London and shall under that name enjoy, possess and exercise such rights, franchises, privileges and obligations as are on the date of these Presents appurtenant by law and of right to the Masters and Keepers or Wardens and Commonalty of the Mistery or Art of a Stationer of the City of London.

(b) The King licenses, authorises and enables the Company, or any person on its behalf, to acquire any lands tenements or hereditaments whatsoever within the United Kingdom (such lands, tenements or hereditaments not exceeding at any time in annual value calculated as at the times of acquisition thereof respectively the sum of £10,000) and to hold all or any lands which the said Company is hereby authorised to acquire in perpetuity or in lease or otherwise and from time to time to grant, demise, alienate or otherwise dispose of the same or any part thereof.
