Court award concerning a dispute between the Company of Goldsmiths and the Company of Stationers in the matter of 30/32 Ludgate Hill and 7/8 Stationers' Hall Court and land and property adjourning. In relation to the Landlord and Tenant (War Damage) Acts. Ordered that the Goldsmiths' Company do pay the Stationers' Company the contested rent.

Minutes are unsigned; minutes are given for ordinary court meetings, special courts, court meetings for the election of corporation officers, meetings of the court and partners, courts for the election of master and wardens, pension courts and courts to distribute Mr Cater's charity.

Attached to folio 114r is a slip of paper inscribed 'W[illia]m Tyrril of Adthrop in ye County of Northam[pton] bound to Rich[ar]d Woodland in 10L to pay 5L on the 16th of July next'.

At back of volume is inscribed an extract from a letters patent of James I, giving the High Commission further powers over those offending against Star Chamber decrees 'touchinge the reformac[i]on of divers disorders in the printinge and utteringe of Bookes'.

pages 421-423: 'Report of the Master, Wardens and Stock-keepers (hereinafter called the Stock Board) to the Master Wardens and Court of Assistants of the Worshipful Company of Stationers pursuant to the following resolution passed at the Court of Assistants, held on Tuesday, 4th August, 1885: - "That whereas the pesent condition of the Offices of the Company require immediate attention, it be referred to our Stock Board to consider and report generally on the whole question, including the vacant land."'.

Entries in volume mention the Great Plague and the Great Fire of London, including:

folio 112v: '...and likewise such other small sumes to ye poore from time to time (during this tyme of Infection) as shall be thought fitt...', 26 Sep 1665.

folio 124r: 'Co[u]rt 2 October 1666 Att Cookes Hall, being the first co[u]rt after the ffire in ye City...Ordered, That the Wardens provide laborers for the digging upp, and searching the ruins, and rubbish, at Stationers Hall; and that the same be watched, day and night, at the doing thereof'.

Entry for 3 Jan 1678 (folios 294v-310r) includes the texts of company by-laws passed forthwith, titled 'Orders Rules & Ordinances ordained devised & made by the Ma[ste]r & Keepers or Wardens & Com[m]alty of the Mistery or Art of Stac[i]oners of the Citty of Lond[o]n for the well governing of that Society', and texts of the Master's, Wardens', freeman's, Clerk's, Beadle's and Assistants' oaths.
