Three petitions addressed to the Master and Wardens of the Stationers’ Company with transcripts. One transcript dates the petitions to c.1685.

  • Two petitions from free workmen (journeymen) printers complaining of lack of work because of ‘supernumerary printing houses, apprentices, and printing presses, and a multitude of aliens’.
  • Petition from master and workmen printers of London complaining of printing outside London, in particular York and Oxford.

After the midsummer dividend is inscribed a signed Commissioners of Duties' licence to the treasurer, requiring him to enter into the dividend books the numbers of receipts without required stamps and to be able to produce these receipts for inspection, 12 Dec 1783.
