Entries of copies are dated 3 Dec 1645-27 Feb 1657 and fill the volume; information given includes name of property owner, name of person/s under whose hand/s the copy is entered, title of work, name of author and amount paid (usually 6d per title); there are frequent cross references in the margins to entries elsewhere in the volume and in other volumes.
Front cover reads 'A Register Booke of Coppies Begining December 1645 Ending February 1656' [1657 new calendar].
At the top of the first page is written 'Mr Robert Mead, Master, Mr John Parker, Mr George Miller, Wardens' (new Masters and Wardens are named periodically through the volume).
Fly leaf reads 'Stationers Register booke for Entry of Copies. Liber E', and a scribe has practised scrolling and lettering below, including the names 'Thomas', 'J Burroughs' and 'James Cole'.
End pages at rear of volume were used for scrolling and lettering practice, including a verse, 'If thou wouldst knowe the reason why/ I scribled thus my pen to try/ Tis easie to be guest by you/ cause I had nothing els to doe. James Cole'. Elsewhere on the page, 'James Cole, servant to the said J Burroughs', 'Edward Underwood, servant to the said G Tokefeild' and 'Thomas Stephenson'. On the verso of the second end page is written, upside down, 'Richard Royston, Master, Robert White, Samuel Mearne, Wardens'.
