Entries of copies are dated 2 Mar 1657-24 Jan 1683; information given includes name of property owner, name of person/s under whose hand/s the copy is entered, title of work, name of author and amount paid (usually 6d per title); there are very few cross references in the margins to entries elsewhere in the volume.
Front cover reads 'A Register Booke of Coppies Begining March 1656 [new calendar 1657] & Ending January 1682'. [new calendar 1683]
At the top of the first page is written 'The Register of Copies. Mr Robert Meade, Master. Mr Humphrey Robinson, Mr Richard Thrale, Wardens. Anno domini 1656. Liber F' (new Masters and Wardens are named periodically through the volume).
On the final page is a list of five memoranda relating to caveats restricting the entering of specified works, 5 Sep 1675-8 Dec 1682. The list is not in chronological order. At the foot of this page titles have been written upside down that suggest the volume was intended for another use, possibly as a register of shares.
