• Two petitions from free workmen (journeymen) printers complaining of lack of work because of ‘supernumerary printing houses, apprentices, and printing presses, and a multitude of aliens’.
• Petition from master and workmen printers of London complaining of printing outside London, in particular York and Oxford.

Discussion of the application of the Act for the Encouragement of Learning [the Statute of Anne/Copyright Act 1710] to books published abroad, and financial implications for the English book trade of the importation of such books.
