            Treasurers' vouchers for printing expenses

            Receipts for monies paid out by the Treasurer, the manager of the English Stock whose duties included keeping the Stock accounts, looking after its paper and book stocks in the warehouse and organising printing of the books; many receipts consist of bills with receipt of payment added at a later date; some unreceipted bills are also included.

            Folder is divided into subfolders:

            i: printed almanack advertisements, 1738-1799 [59 items]. Many were originally used as covers for bundles of Treasurers' vouchers and powers to pay dividends; others have handwritten annotations and were used to note numbers of almanacks sold, unsold, to be printed or to be returned to the stamp office.

            ii: printed almanack publication notices, 1778-1873 [9 items]. The 18th century items were originally used as covers for bundles of Treasurers' vouchers.

            iii: letter from William Chase to George Hawkins regarding advertisement and publication of almanacks, 5 Nov 1795.
